2006, I received a Master of Social Work (MSW)
degree from Rutgers University School of Social Work
in New Jersey. My course of study focused on general
practice therapy with special emphasis on families
and children. After obtaining clinical licensure in
New Jersey, where I practiced in a variety of
therapeutic settings for 11 years, I relocated to
Florida where I am currently a Licensed Clinical
Social Worker (LCSW). I maintain a School Social
Worker Certification in New Jersey.
I have worked with adolescents,
couples, and families in and out of the child welfare
system. My experience includes working with individuals
in crisis dealing with grief, loss and other significant
traumas. In my practice, I help individuals to identify
and use their strengths to address their presenting
problems. To do this, I use a client directed approach,
meaning I engage each person in developing solutions
that will work for them. Ultimately, I think of you not
as a client but as a co-therapist.
I recently became a certified facilitator for the
program, a customized couple assessment completed
online, that identifies a couple's strengths and areas
for growth. Prepare/Enrich is one of the most widely
used programs for premarital counseling and education.
It is also used for marriage counseling and enrichment.
I am very excited to add this to my specialties.
My post graduate education
includes courses in:
understanding and working with adolescents using a family
therapeutic mediation working with post-divorce couples
behavioral strategies for adolescents and their families
ethical issues in working with children and families
self-injurious behavior in adolescents
resiliency in adults and children of alcoholics
spirituality in counseling
grief/bereavement (including pet loss)
